Percentage Formulas

A percentage is a fraction of 100.

Percentage = (\frac{Value}{Total Value}) \times 100

To calculate the percentage increase from an initial value to a final value:

Percentage Increase = (\frac{Final Value - Initial Value}{Initial Value}) \times 100

To calculate the percentage decrease from an initial value to a final value:

Percentage Decrease = (\frac{Initial Value - Final Value}{Initial Value}) \times 100

To find the value when a percentage of it and the percentage are known:

Value = (\frac{Percentage}{100}) \times Total Value

To find the value when a percentage of it and the percentage are known:

Value = (\frac{Percentage}{100}) \times Total Value

Example:

Suppose you know that 30% of a number is 60. To find the total value:

Let $Percentage = 30$ and $Value = 60$ . We need to find $Total Value$ .

$Total Value = \frac{Value}{(\frac{Percentage}{100})}$

$Total Value = \frac{60}{(\frac{30}{100})} = \frac{60}{0.30} = 200$

Therefore, the total value is 200.
