Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya Punyatithi
● Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya was born on 24 November 1880.
● At the Lucknow session of the Congress in 1916, he demanded the formation of separate Congress Circle for Andhra of Madras State.
● Andhra Bank' was founded by Pattabhi Sitaramayya on November 28, 1923, so that the benefits of banking services could be extended to the common people.
● From the year 1919, he started publishing the English weekly publication 'Janmabhoomi'.
● Subhash Chandra Bose became the President of the Congress by defeating Pattabhi Sitaramayya, the candidate supported by Gandhiji, by 199 votes in the Tripuri session of 1939, but he had to resign on April 30, 1939 due to strong opposition from Gandhiji.
● Before the elections, Bapu had said, "Sitaramayya's defeat will be my defeat". In this election Jawaharlal Nehru refused to participate and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad withdrew his name.
● In 1936, he was elected as President of All India Native States People's Council. At the same time, between 1946 and 1949, he was become member of the Constituent Assembly. He was also a member of the Provisional Parliament of India.
● Pattabhi Sitaramayya was a scholar, he is regarded as the official historian of the Congress.
● After completing his medical education, he started his practice in 1906.
● In 1912-13, he advocated the formation of a state on linguistic basis.
● Leaving this work in 1916, Pattabhi Sitaramayya remained a member of the All India Congress Committee from 1916 to 1952.
 ● Pattabhi Sitaramayya was also a member of Working Committee of the All India Congress Committee.
● In 1936, he was elected as the President of All India State People's Council.
● In 1948-50, he was elected as President of Indian National Congress in the All India Convention of Jaipur.
● From 1946 to 1949, he was a member of the Constituent Assembly and was also a member of the Interim Parliament thereafter.
● In 1952, he was appointed as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh and remained the Governor of reorganized Madhya Pradesh from November 1, 1956 to June 13, 1957.
● He was a great patriot, excellent scholar and an administrator of high order.
● He was also an accomplished writer and he also wrote many books.
● He published National Education (1912), Indian Nationalism (1913), Re-Distribution of Indian Provinces on a Language Basis (1916), The Indian National Congress (Jubilee Commemoration Volume-1935), Economic conquest of India, Constitutions of the World, Gandhi; Gandhism and Socialism, Hindu Home Re-Discovered in 1936-37, Why Vote Congress?, Sixty years of Congress, Fundamentals of Indian Political Problems, Feathers and Stones, History of Congress Vol.II, Current History in Question and Answer etc.
● Pattabhi Sitaramayya died on 17th December, 1959 in Hyderabad.
