Jamnalal Bajaj
● Jamnalal Bajaj was born on November 4, 1889 in Kashi Ka Bas, Sikar (Rajasthan).
● He returned the title of 'Rai Bahadur' received from the British in protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in the year 1919.
● Jamnalal Bajaj established the Satyagraha Ashram in Wardha in the year 1921.
● Jamnalal Bajaj participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement in the year 1921 and the Nagpur Flag Satyagraha in the year 1923 to uphold the honour of the National Flag.
● Jamnalal Bajaj participated in the boycott demonstrations of the Simon Commission in the year 1929, the Salt Satyagraha in the year 1930 and the anti-war campaign in the year 1941.
● As the founder-president of 'Gandhi Seva Sangh' and the president of 'All India Khaddar Board', he first did 'Khadi Yatra' in Rajasthan and later this journey was expanded at the All India level.
● Prominent examples of his serious efforts for women's emancipation through education include establishment of Mahila Ashram in Wardha and Mahila Shiksha Sadan in Ajmer.
● Jamnalal Bajaj was the main leader of demanding responsible governance in Rajasthan.
● Bikaner Maharaja Gangasingh banned Jamnalal Bajaj from coming to Bikaner.
● He was instrumental in leading the Jaipur Satyagraha in 1939 as well as resolving conflicts in Bijolia and Sikar.
● He tried his best to propagate the use of Hindi by touring all India. His address as the President of the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan in Madras reflects a comprehensive interpretation of the dimensions of Hindi and the regional languages of India.
● He tried his best to practice Gandhian ethics in every sphere of his life - political, social, professional and personal.
● In the year 1970, the Government of India issued a commemorative postage stamp, in his memory and in the year 1990, his birth centenary was officially celebrated.
● Jamnalal Bajaj's nicknames were 'Gandhiji's fifth son' and 'Ghulam number four'.
