However, if Sucre is specified, then Ecuador's capital, Quito, is the national capital at the highest altitude.
Well, the altitude is impressive – 6,390m above sea level. But the lake itself is another small crater lake, with a diameter of only 100m and a depth of 10m. It doesn’t even have its own name, just taking the name of the volcano it sits upon – Ojos del Salado, or “The Eyes of Salty Water” in English. It’s the highest volcano on Earth and is not entirely dormant, having had some recent volcanic activity such as sulfuric gases and vapors leaking out.

Rogun Dam is an embankment dam under construction on the Vakhsh River in southern Tajikistan. It is one of the planned hydroelectric power plants of Vakhsh Cascade. Over three decades only preliminary construction has been carried out on the dam. Due to its controversial state, construction was suspended in August 2012 pending World Bank reports, but has since then resumed. The dispute over the project has contributed significantly to bitter relations between the two former Soviet republics.
This project is under construction, opening date is 2018.

Mount Everest, also known in Nepali as Sagarmatha and in Tibetan as Chomolungma, is Earth's highest mountain. The current official height of 8,848 m (29,029 ft), recognised by China and Nepal, was established by a 1955 Indian survey and subsequently confirmed by a Chinese survey in 1975. In 2005, China remeasured the rock height of the mountain, with a result of 8844.43 m. There followed an argument between China and Nepal as to whether the official height should be the rock height (8,844 m., China) or the snow height (8,848 m., Nepal). In 2010, an agreement was reached by both sides that the height of Everest is 8,848 m, and Nepal recognises China's claim that the rock height of Everest is 8,844 m.
